Outreach Assistant Librarian

Join our team as an Outreach Assistant Librarian, where every day brings new opportunities to inspire curiosity, foster connections, and create meaningful experiences.

As part of Elyria Public Library’s dynamic Outreach Team, you’ll have the chance to expand the library’s reach throughout the community. Whether visiting schools, senior centers, or community events, or driving one of our fun library vehicles—like the Bookmobile or EWOC vehicle—you’ll bring the library to life for people of all ages.

What You'll Do:

Elevate Customer Experiences:

• Create welcoming, exciting environments that inspire curiosity and enthusiasm for library services.
• Serve as a trusted resource, helping patrons navigate library materials, technology, and services.
• Assist with library circulation functions, including material checkouts and returns.

Engage the Community:

• Maintain relationships with schools, daycares, senior centers, and community organizations, becoming a friendly and approachable face of the library.
• Assist in delivering engaging programs tailored to diverse audiences, both on-site and during outreach.
• Help patrons access library resources, from research databases to digital tools, fostering a love of reading, learning, and exploration.

Show Your Adaptability:

• Operate and drive the library's outreach vehicles, ensuring safe and reliable delivery of services across Elyria.
• Think on your feet and adjust to a variety of settings, from classrooms to community events, all while keeping attention to detail and staying organized.

What We’re Looking For:

We’re seeking an enthusiastic and community-focused individual who shares our passion for making library services accessible to everyone. If you:

• Have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Are comfortable with technology and enjoy helping others learn.
• Hold a bachelor’s degree.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain automobile insurance.

Pay: $17.09 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
