Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Librarian to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing library resources, educating patrons, and promoting literacy and research skills within the facility. This position requires strong communication skills, a passion for knowledge, and the ability to adapt to the evolving landscape of information management.
Qualification:
Bachelor's degree in library science, education, or an equivalent field from an accredited college or university AND Two years of experience in developing lesson plans, and/ or delivering educational services or training services for clients or staff in specialized programs, i.e., counseling services.
Preferred Qualification:
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the Minimum Qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
Experience in developing goals and performance measures for education classes, vocational training programs, or media center operations.
Experience in analyzing service program needs.
Good knowledge of legal and professional service standards for education or media programs.
Good knowledge of correctional practices applicable to education services and/or media center operations.
Demonstration of leadership skills and ability to coach others in goal accomplishments.
Advanced interpersonal, communications, problem solving and decision making skills.
Skill in using standard computer software applications.
Completion of course work equivalent to an undergraduate major in education, library services, or behavioral sciences.
Duties
- Manage and maintain library collections, ensuring resources are up-to-date and relevant.
- Educate patrons on how to effectively use library resources.
- Develop and implement programs that promote literacy, research skills, and community engagement.
- Oversee archives management, including archival processing and digitization of materials.
- Conduct data collection and analysis to improve library services and resources.
- Communicate effectively with staff and patrons to foster a welcoming environment.
- Stay informed about intellectual property law as it pertains to library operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in library science, education, or a related field is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of databases and information retrieval systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in archives management or archival processing is a plus.
- Ability to educate diverse groups of patrons with varying levels of experience.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing library collections.
- A commitment to continuous learning and professional development in the field of librarianship.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 - $25.18 per hour
