This role performs computer aided drafting tasks and works closely with engineering, toolroom and molding associates to create digital drawings for fixtures and components.
Must be able to create accurate files using a high level of attention to detail. Knowledge of tolerancing dimensions and adding annotations are needed.
Once complete all drawings are entered to a revision driven data management system.
This is a first shift role 7:00am -3:00pm Monday- Friday
Responsibilities:
- Prepare solid models, assemblies and detail drawings in AutoDesk Inventor and Solidworks for engineering projects, production equipment, molds and molding equipment as required for manufacturing of company products.
- Interface with tool room, engineers, vendors and parts crib to create and revise engineering and molding drawings.
- Must have some knowledge of 2D AutoCad software for floor layout work and updating legacy drawings.
- Drawing Document Control: Maintain and organize drawings and other documentation in data management system for proper revision control to allow easier access to files for users.
- Solid understanding of part design for production equipment, injection molding processes and mold components.
- Keep current with new molding designs and techniques.
- Familiarity with operating techniques of various pieces of measuring equipment.
- Must be knowledgeable of tool room inspection techniques.
- Fixture design knowledge for measuring may be required.
- Assist individuals needing help locating drawing files, providing them with a hard copy or electronic file when necessary.
- Keep current with new software technology in drafting, design and tool room areas.
- Extensive knowledge of machine shop technology so that drawings of more complex manufacturing and molding equipment may be completed with a minimum of supervision.
- Coordinate interpretation of any changes to documentation with machine shop and engineering personnel.
- Perform design work, including fixturing devices, with minimal supervision.
- Good math skills and some metallurgical knowledge is helpful.
- Responsible for accuracy and quality of all drawings.
- Must maintain regular, punctual attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Team Leader and required to support the needs of the business.
Basic Requirements:
- Basic Keyboarding and navigational skills including Microsoft Office.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English.
- Solid level of knowledge, skills and abilities in a 3D and 2D CAD environment using SolidWorks and Autodesk products.
- Knowledge of tolerancing dimensions and adding annotations.
Preferred Requirements:
- Associates Degree. (Major: Mechanical Drafting)
- No related experience required for qualified candidate with drafting degree.
- Knowledge in geometric tolerancing.
