The Opportunity
The METRC Compliance Manager will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with state and local cannabis regulations, including the METRC track-and-trace system, licensing renewals, OSHA compliance, and overall regulatory adherence. This position requires an individual with exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and a deep understanding of the cannabis industry. The role also involves providing leadership and training to ensure the company maintains the highest compliance standards across its operations.
Essential Functions
METRC Compliance
- Serve as the company's primary METRC administrator, ensuring accurate data entry, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Conduct internal audits of METRC records to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Train staff on METRC system protocols and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to METRC usage and compliance.
- Communicate amongst departments for real time accuracy.
Cannabis Licensing and Renewals
- Manage the end-to-end process for all cannabis licensing and permit renewals at the state and local levels.
- Track deadlines and ensure timely submissions of all regulatory documentation.
- Maintain an organized record-keeping system for all licenses, permits, and compliance documents.
- Serve as a liaison with state and local regulatory agencies for licensing matters.
OSHA Compliance
- Oversee and implement occupational safety and health programs to ensure a safe working environment across all facilities.
- Conduct regular OSHA audits and inspections, addressing any safety concerns promptly.
- Deliver ongoing safety training programs and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Investigate workplace incidents and recommend preventative measures.
General Regulatory Compliance
- Stay updated on changes to state and local cannabis laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Conduct internal compliance audits and risk assessments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure all operations meet regulatory standards.
- Provide compliance-related updates and reports to senior management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, regulatory compliance, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in cannabis compliance, METRC, or a similar regulatory environment.
- Extensive knowledge of California cannabis laws, METRC software, and OSHA requirements.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proven leadership and team management skills.
- Proficiency in compliance management software and tools.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit at a desk for extended periods of time in front of a computer.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time while maintaining focus, and have the ability to walk on uneven terrain.
- Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull and balance up to 50lbs.
Work Environment

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to herbal aromas, dust, and/or airborne particles.
- The employee also works outside of the office, in flower rooms, hallways, staging areas, maintenance rooms, electrical rooms and any other areas compliance is necessary.
