Job Overview
As a Lead Teller at Embers, you set the tone for exceptional frontline service. In this role, you’ll combine expert transaction handling with team support and guidance. You’ll help coach and support the teller team, assist in training new staff, and provide a reliable point of contact for both members and employees. You’ll also take responsibility for managing cash and negotiable instruments, ensuring accuracy, security, and efficiency. Whether you’re supporting a team member or assisting a member directly, you’ll help create a smooth, welcoming branch experience that reflects the warmth and trust Embers is known for.
Responsibilities
- Support and Guide the Teller Team - Provide daily leadership and assistance to tellers, including training, troubleshooting, coaching, and resolving discrepancies or complex transactions.
- Oversee Cash Operations - Maintain accurate records of cash and negotiable instruments, including ordering, balancing, vault management, periodic audits, and providing cash drawer overrides.
- Deliver Exceptional Member Transactions - Process deposits, withdrawals, payments, cashier’s checks, money orders, and more with accuracy and professionalism.
- Provide Knowledgeable Member Support - Answer member questions, resolve concerns, and assist with account maintenance, safe deposit access, and other services as needed.
- Promote Embers Products and Services - Recommend appropriate products and services to strengthen member relationships and promote financial well-being.
- Ensure Compliance and Confidentiality - Follow all regulatory requirements and internal procedures, maintaining security and protecting member privacy.
- Create a Warm and Welcoming Atmosphere - Foster a friendly and supportive lobby experience that helps members feel seen, supported, and confident – setting an example to the teller team.
- Represent Embers in Every Interaction - Act as a consistent and professional representative of Embers both with members and within the team.
- Other Duties as Assigned - Support the team with additional clerical tasks, drive-up service, night drop, or other responsibilities that ensure smooth branch operations.

Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience & Knowledge:
1-3 years of experience in teller operations or financial services.
Strong understanding of credit union products, procedures, and compliance standards.
Previous experience mentoring or training others is a plus.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Solid math and cash-handling skills with attention to detail.
Proficiency in digital tools and platforms, including Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, email, and other relevant tools.
Ability to stay organized while managing multiple responsibilities.
Professionalism, demonstrating a professional appearance and attitude.
Willingness to support others and contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment.
Physical Activities & Requirements of this Position:
Talking: Frequent communication required, especially where one must convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
Average Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
Average Visual Abilities: Ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate machinery.
Physical Strength: Active work; standing, reaching, kneeling, stooping, bending and manipulating small and large objects most of the time. Requires occasional lifting (>25 lbs).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $15.87 - $23.80 per hour
