Our client, an AI / ML-driven software startup which accelerates R&D innovation in large consumer product and chemical companies, is seeking to hire a Sr. Director of Talent as a full-time direct hire reporting to the CEO.

This company has ~$50M in funding led by one of the three largest VCs in the world, and is currently deployed with ~3500 lab workers within a $20B leader in the chemical and consumer products space for high-seven figures in ARR. Think of their software as similar to what SalesForce did for sales and marketing employees : this disruptive platform replaces inefficient pen / paper, excel sheet, and on-premise software solutions to drastically improve the effectiveness of chemistry and materials science research teams.

This will be a player / coach position, taking full ownership over building and running the internal recruiting function while actively managing multiple hiring pipelines across every department. This person will build repeatable and effective talent acquisition processes, and will design and implement effective recruiting systems and tools across the organization.

IMPORTANT NOTE : Only candidates who have strong experience building and managing talent functions from 0-1 within early and high-growth software / tech startups will be considered for this role.

Responsibilities :

  • Build the Recruiting Function : Stand up the recruiting engine, designing and implementing scalable systems and managing contract recruiting resources to find and hire top-tier talent across all engineering, data science, go-to-market, operations, finance, and other functions.
  • Set up and oversight of Rippling for Talent management
  • Full-Cycle Recruiting : Own every stage of the recruitment lifecycle, from sourcing to offer, all the way through onboarding and retention.
  • Candidate Experience : Ensure a world-class candidate experience, building relationships that go beyond the typical recruitment process.
  • Process Ownership : Develop and optimize recruiting processes that are efficient, scalable, and adaptable to the evolving needs of a fast-growing startup.
  • Collaboration : Partner with hiring managers to define roles, recruitment strategies, and ensure alignment with company goals.
  • Data-Driven Approach : Track and analyze recruitment metrics to optimize sourcing strategies and drive continuous improvement.

What You Bring :

  • 10 years of full-cycle recruiting experience, ideally in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Proven track record of inbound and outbound recruiting success across go-to-market, engineering, product, finance, and operations.
  • Experience working closely with leadership teams and building out recruitment functions from scratch including evaluating and selecting software tools.
  • Comfort working in a zero-to-one environment, with a “roll-up-your-sleeves” attitude.
  • Comfortable starting in an individual contributor capacity, and growing a team down the line as the company expands.
  • Data-driven decision-making experience and a willingness to innovate and refine recruitment processes.
  • Educational background in physical sciences, or experience working in a scientifically-focused software or technology company is a big plus.
