Role Description
The Engagement Director is a dynamic and proactive leader responsible for managing volunteer initiatives, coordinating community engagement programs, and overseeing educational outreach efforts. This role requires strong project management skills, exceptional communication, and a passion for fostering inclusive and meaningful experiences for both adult and student participants. The Engagement Director will cultivate a welcoming environment, ensuring the smooth execution of field trips, docent tours, volunteer programs, and special events that advance the mission of Embracing Our Differences.
Key Responsibilities:
Volunteer Recruitment, Training & Management
- Develop and implement strategies to recruit, onboard, and retain diverse volunteers.
- Maintain an accurate volunteer database, tracking participation, availability, and interests.
- Design and lead comprehensive training programs for volunteers and docents.
- Schedule and assign volunteers for programs and events, including Reading Days, annual luncheon, exhibition tours, and other EOD programming with support needs.
- Foster volunteer engagement through recognition initiatives and appreciation events.
Education & Public Engagement Programs
- Coordinate and schedule field trips, ensuring an enriching experience for students and educators.
- Distribute pre- and post-visit learning materials to enhance educational impact.
- Manage the Docent Program for students as well as adults, recruiting, training, and scheduling.
- Organize and implement Unity Days, Reading Days, and other school-based engagement initiatives.
- Work closely with educators, school administrators, and community partners to expand participation in educational programs.
Community Outreach & Relationship Building
- Cultivate relationships with schools, nonprofits, businesses, and community organizations to grow program participation.
- Represent Embracing Our Differences at community meetings, fairs, and networking events.
- Identify partnership opportunities that align with the organization’s mission and outreach goals.
- Collaborate with marketing staff to enhance program visibility and engagement.
Project Management, Data Tracking & Reporting
- Utilize Microsoft Excel or volunteer management software to track participation, attendance, and engagement metrics.
- Generate reports to evaluate program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Assist in grant reporting by collecting and organizing relevant program data.
- Ensure program logistics are executed efficiently, on time, and within budget.
Special Events & Exhibition Support
- Coordinate volunteer and staff support for special events, including exhibit celebrations and luncheons.
- Manage docent scheduling for public tours and Saturday programming.
- Oversee volunteer assistance with exhibition-related tasks such as survey administration and visitor counting.
- Analyze and report findings from events and exhibit engagement data.
Required Skills/ Abilities/ Characteristics:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in nonprofit program management, volunteer coordination, or community engagement.
- Strong experience in volunteer recruitment, training, and management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or volunteer management software.
- Exceptional organizational and project management skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) candidates strongly preferred.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate effectively within a team.
- Passion for arts-based education and community engagement.

Salary Range: $65,000 - $85,000, commensurate with experience

Physical Demands: The Engagement Director is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, speak, and hear. The position requires extensive computer use, outdoor activities and occasional lifting and/or moving of light to moderate loads. Must pass a Level Two Background Screening as required by the State of Florida for individuals providing in-school programming.
