What are the responsibilities and job description for the Survey Field Support position at EMC Engineering Services, Inc.?
The Survey Field Support is an entry-level position to assist in surveying land by performing tasks as directed by Survey Party Chief or other senior survey staff.
- Holds level or stadia rod at designated points to assist in determining elevations and position of stakes for mapmaking, construction, land, and other surveys.
- Calls out readings or records readings, as directed.
- Marks points of measurement with elevation, station number, or identifying mark.
- Measures distance between survey points with steel or cloth tape or surveyor’s chain.
- Marks measuring points with keel, paint sticks, scratches, tacks, or stakes.
- Places stakes at designated points and drives them into ground at specified elevation.
- Cuts and clears brush and trees from line of survey.
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Equivalent combination of 3 months of education and relevant experience preferred.
- Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Valid driver’s license required - Must be insurable by fleet insurer; driving history will be reviewed by agent and underwriter.
- Must be able to pass a background check as required by military, industrial, port, and other client sites.
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices

- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone.
- May be required to drive long distances daily
- May be required to travel overnight

Pay: $17.82 - $19.31 per hour
