Job Description
The SURVEY TECHNICIAN works under general supervision of a registered land surveyor or management position and utilizes the principles and practices of surveying / engineering to gather, analyze and monitor simple to moderately complex engineering-related data.
Researches, files, retrieves, reviews and / or prepares a variety of engineering maps, documents, records, reports and correspondence
Operates computer-aided design, modeling and / or other application programs
Locates utilities, easements, property lines, and / or other information on plans
Performs field investigations and / or inspections of existing conditions and new construction
Collects, compiles and / or analyzes data and field samples
Assists in the preparation of program and project schedules
Reviews drawings for conformance with established engineering standards
Performs property-related research
Provides technical or functional guidance to less experienced staff
Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
Job Requirements
EDUCATION AND / OR WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS :
Knowledge of surveying principles and practices; engineering design and construction practices; computer-aided design and other general engineering computer software application programs, including spreadsheets and word processing is required
High school diploma or GED required; Certificate of completion from an accredited Civil Engineering Technology or other related technical program preferred
Minimum of 5 years equivalent combination of education and experience required
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
Valid driver's license required - Must be insurable by fleet insurer, driving history will be reviewed by agent and underwriter
Must be able to pass a background check as required by military, industrial, port, and other client sites.
Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and / or quantitative productivity standards.
Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
