The Sheet Metal Estimator is primarily responsible for performing take-offs and building estimates with clear scopes. All material-quantities-labor estimate in their assigned field. What Youll Do:
- Bid Calendar
- Inform Senior Estimator when they receive all bid invitations and work with them to create and manage the bid calendar.
- Conceptual Estimating
- Gather vendor quotes and cost breakdowns for materials, labor, and subcontractor estimates in bid packages.
- Organize and categorize scope items using a standard cost code structure.
- Collaborate with sales department to ensure all necessary prequalification documents and deadlines are addressed upon receiving a bid package.
- Possess a good understanding of project details, such as drawings, specs, materials, and pricing, and should identify potential cost-saving opportunities during bidding using ProCore.
- Create Job Estimate folder in QuickPen, containing all proposal materials, specs, drawings, and vendor/subcontractor details.
- Complete estimating checklist before the bid review and coordinate with the Senior Estimator for review scheduling.
- Pass any received addendums to Lead Salesperson for uploading to ProCore.

Project Set Up/Turnover
- Meet with the assigned Project Manager, Superintendent, Quality Control Manager and Safety Manager for awarded projects to review the key factors in a hand-off Meeting.

Project Close Out
- Attend Post Project Review meeting at the end of a project to evaluate how the project went and discuss what lessons were learned on the job.
- Maintain a historical cost record for future work pricing.
What Youll Bring:
- Experience in mechanical consulting or engineering field or design-build mechanical contracting firm is preferred.
- Knowledge of family functionality; can effectively use family types, instance parameters, and type parameters.
- Knowledge of annotation techniques; can efficiently annotate with tags and text.
- Experience with mechanical system functions such as circuiting and panelboard schedules is preferred, but can be learned on the job with the right candidate.
- Ability to create, modify and utilize templates.
- A proactive learner with a desire to continuously improve and grow.
- Ability to perform mechanical calculations is preferred.
- High proficiency of office programs such as MS Word and Excel.
- Working knowledge of codes such as IPC, IMC, IFGC, IBC.
- Willingness to learn programs such as ProCore and other software.
- Read project documents and perform basic itemized takeoffs.
- Navigate electronic estimating software, and take direction and training from a supervisor.
- Fluent English verbal and writing skills.

- Must have a valid Virginia drivers license.
- Must have positive points on state driving record.
- Must be at least 21 years of age unless company approval is granted.
- Must not have had a DUI, DWI, or reckless driving conviction in the last five years.
- All driving records are run as part of our pre-employment process and reviewed at the discretion of the Safety Team.
