Job Title: Building Automation Systems (BAS) Control Technician
Position Overview:
Building Automation Systems (BAS) Technicians ensure the smooth and efficient operation of modern commercial and industrial buildings who leverage expertise across multiple building trades, including electrical, mechanical, telecommunications, and information systems networks to manage and optimize computer-based control systems and environmental control energy equipment in commercial and industrial settings
They collaborate with customers, architects, engineers, and contractors to install, service, and commission building automation systems (BAS) in diverse environments such as office buildings, industrial sites, medical centers, hotels, malls, retail stores, and warehouses.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Provide installation, diagnostics and repair services on Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems and HVAC equipment as needed.
- Programming and troubleshooting skills with Honeywell, Tridium, JCI, Carrier, and Trane control systems.
- Having an in-depth knowledge of design, operation and maintenance of HVAC control systems, building automation, electrical systems, energy management, installation, and construction procedures
- Good organizational and planning skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good problem-solving skills
- Fosters relationships with customers and team members to maintain excellent communication between the BAS department and its customers.
- Work independently and as a team member
Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years field experience in the HVAC controls industry including DDC Systems commissioning, software integration operation, calibration, and experience with pneumatic controls.
- Experience with control system architecture design, programing, or maintenance.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings.
- Good computer skills, understanding of controls networking.
- A valid driver’s license.
- Configuration/programming and troubleshooting skills with Tridium, Honeywell, JCI FX, JCI PCT, Carrier, and Trane software
- All candidates should understand BACnet, LON, and Modbus protocols
- Previous work experience with building automation systems, i.e., those manufactured by ALC, Alerton, Delta, Distech, JCI, Siemens, Trane, Honeywell, and/or Tridium.
Physical Requirements and Job Environment:
- All candidates for this position should be reasonably physically fit and capable of routinely lifting and carrying tools, equipment or pieces of material weighing up to 20 pounds and occasionally carrying up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, bend, twist, kneel, and climb when needed
- Comfortable climbing ladders and working from scissor lifts at heights.
- Environmental conditions may range from outdoors at all times of the year to indoors in normal office conditions to indoor utility plants.
