Your Role
At EMD Electronics, the Maintenance Mechanic will support production and quality goals by ensuring safe and reliable operation of machinery and mechanical equipment in a fast paced and dynamic work environment.
- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on rotating equipment to include pumps, reciprocating compressors, agitators, gear boxes, and process refrigeration systems.
- Perform basic building maintenance throughout the site.
- Utilize diagrams, sketches, OEM manuals, and engineering specifications to troubleshoot and repair malfunctions.
- Effectively communicate job status, document job activities and observations.
- Accurately perform inventory transactions.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with site procedures and safety programs.
- Dayshift position but includes opportunity for scheduled and emergency overtime on nights and weekends. Transition to a rotating shift possible.
- Work in confined spaces and at heights of 60 feet.
- Use of hand and power tools including precision measuring instruments.
- Operate forklift and/or aerial work platforms.
Who You Are
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3 years of experience in an industrial maintenance role.
- Trade School certificate OR Participation in a union mechanical apprenticeship.
- Experience with safety work permits and lock-out/tag-out procedures.
- Previous process experience in a chemical plant.
- Knowledge of basic electricity.
- Knowledge of mill, drill, and lathe operations including understanding of dimension, tolerance, and fit.
- Knowledge of rolling element and journal bearing replacement and maintenance.
- Lubrication practices and principles.
- Static & dynamic seal, couplings, and drives & alignment maintenance.
- Experience with the setup and operation of an Oxy-Acetylene Torch, fitting including functional knowledge of materials, fittings, and threading.
- Computer skills to review and record maintenance history in work orders.
