Job Summary
The Packaging Manager will be responsible for managing the packaging team, ensuring production deadlines are met, coordinating production schedules and lab testing, maintaining quality control, and fostering a safe and motivated work environment. This role requires strong leadership skills, exceptional organizational abilities, and effective communication with cross-departmental management. The ideal candidate will bring experience in production management, quality assurance, and team leadership, along with a deep understanding of cannabis regulations.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Management
- Oversee and manage the daily operations of the packaging department, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
- Lead, train, and motivate the packaging team, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Monitor employee performance and provide regular feedback to promote professional growth and accountability.
Production Coordination
- Develop and maintain production schedules to meet customer demand and production targets.
- Coordinate with other departments, including manufacturing and inventory, to ensure smooth workflows and inventory availability.
- Ensure timely execution of lab testing requirements and proper documentation.
Quality Control
- Implement and maintain rigorous quality control standards for all packaged products.
- Inspect packaging materials and final products to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Investigate quality issues and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Safety and Compliance
- Ensure all packaging operations meet or exceed state and federal cannabis regulations, including labeling and child-resistant requirements.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all health and safety protocols, including PPE compliance.
- Stay informed about evolving cannabis regulations and adapt processes accordingly.
Communication and Reporting
- Regularly communicate production updates, challenges, and successes to senior management and other departments.
- Prepare and analyze production reports, including metrics on efficiency, quality, and team performance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in a packaging, production, or operations management role, preferably in the cannabis industry.
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead, train, and inspire a team.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with cannabis packaging regulations and quality assurance principles.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and handle packages up to 50 pounds.
- Detail-Oriented: Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving industry.
