SUMMARY:
Emerald Coast Autism Center (ECAC) is a 501(c) 3 non-profit organization dedicated to educating and improving the lives of children and young adults diagnosed with autism and related unique abilities. ECAC is unique in our approach to teaching these amazing children. All instruction and activities at the ECAC are consistent with the science of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Emerald Coast Learning Center (ECLC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of ECAC and operates similarly for students on the academic or vocational track.
The Emerald Coast Learning Center Academic Teacher will be primarily responsible for instruction in an ABA based classroom overseen by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). This is a full-time salary position, requiring the employee to work a minimum of 32 hours a week (Monday-Friday) and a maximum of 40 hours a week. This position comes with holiday pay according to the company’s annual calendar and benefit offerings. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instructing student behavior in consistency with the science of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
- Establishing and enforcing rules of behavior for students in the classroom
- Preparing lessons, units, and projects to complete learning objectives
- Taking data on individual students
- Establishing and communicating clear objectives for lessons, units, and projects
- Adapting teaching methods and materials to meet the interests and learning styles of students
- Encouraging students to explore learning opportunities and career paths
- Creating, assigning, and grading various assessments for students, including tests, quizzes, essays, and projects
- Working with students one-on-one when they need extra help or attention
- Tracking and evaluating student academic progress
- Creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment
- Leading parent-teacher meetings at least 2 times per school year
- Maintaining positive relationships with students, parents, coworkers, and supervisors
- Communicating regularly with parents
- Weekly classroom updates to families via Class Dojo
- Helping students improve study methods and habits
- Administering tests to evaluate students’ progress
- Attendance at required educator meetings with leadership
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Indirectly supervise the Teaching Assistant assigned to the classroom following the assistant’s job description and your direct supervisor’s observation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree (BA) from a four-year college or university, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, utilize hand and finger dexterity, climb, balance, bend, stoop, kneel or crawl, talk, and hear
- While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud
- The employee must occasionally lift and /or move more than 10 pounds
- The employee must be able to operate an iPad, tablet, and computer
