Key Responsibilities:
✨Patient-Centric Care: Greet and prepare patients for their eye exams with a warm, professional approach.
✨Preliminary Vision Tests: Perform essential tests such as visual acuity, auto-refraction, tonometry, visual field testing, OCT, Optomap retinal photos, and corneal topography.
✨Accurate Documentation: Gather patient medical history and enter information into testing equipment; ensure patient records are up to date.
✨Equipment Maintenance: Clean, calibrate, and maintain ophthalmic instruments and testing equipment.
✨Patient Education: Assist patients with contact lens training and proper care instructions to promote eye health.
✨Administrative Support: Manage scheduling, verify insurance, handle patient inquiries, and support the optometrist during special diagnostic procedures.
✨Compliance & Confidentiality: Ensure all activities are HIPAA-compliant and follow healthcare regulations.
Qualifications:
✅Educational Background: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or certification in ophthalmic assisting is a plus.
✅Experience: Prior experience as an optometric technician or in an eye care setting is beneficial.
✅Customer Service Excellence: Strong interpersonal skills with a friendly and professional demeanor.
✅Adaptability: Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
✅Tech-Savvy: Comfortable with computers and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
✅Team Player: Collaborative mindset with the ability to follow instructions and work alongside the optometrists.
