Under supervision and in accordance with established policies and procedures, performs specialized work in the procurement, inventory control, and distribution of automotive and heavy equipment parts and accessories. This position supports the ECUA fleet operation by ensuring mechanics have timely access to critical parts, supplies, and tools to maintain safe and efficient fleet services.
This position requires working knowledge of automotive systems and parts, and an interest or background in vehicles is highly desirable. Strong organizational and customer service skills are also key to success.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Identifies, orders, receives, and issues automotive and equipment parts for ECUA’s fleet.
Assists in writing part specifications using vendor catalogs, manuals, and online databases.
Works closely with mechanics to source appropriate parts and ensure timely availability.
Maintains inventory control of garage storeroom and warehouse items, including data entry, reordering, and cycle counts.
Opens, updates, and closes work orders using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).
Uses printed and online catalogs, technical bulletins, and diagrams to locate or verify required parts.
Interfaces with local and national vendors to obtain price quotes and availability, placing orders as needed.
Receives, inspects, and stores incoming parts and verifies quality and quantity.
Maintains organized parts storage and ensures labeling and bin systems are up to date.
Operates forklift, pallet jack, and light truck to pick up or transport parts as required.
Supports fuel site management and issues assigned equipment (e.g., phones or accessories).
Assists with inventory audits, compliance tasks, and other support functions.
Provides backup for other staff such as courier or storekeeper as needed.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
Two (2) years of experience involving identifying, ordering, or handling stock of automotive, truck, or mechanical parts – either in a professional, technical, retail, or hobbyist setting.
Strong organizational skills and computer proficiency in inventory software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Must be available for call-outs after normal working hours including nights, weekends, and holidays based on ECUA department needs.

Licenses and Certifications:
Possession of a current valid Driver License.
ASE Parts Certification or vocational training in automotive/mechanics is desirable.
Employment offers to all new hires are contingent upon the job candidates successfully passing background and reference checks, drug screening, and post job offer physicals (that may include pulmonary testing). Offers of transfers or promotion to current ECUA employees are not subject to nicotine screening. All applicants are subject to physical assessments as required by job.
Must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and regularly work in office, warehouse, or storeroom environments.Required to operate vehicles for parts pickup and transport.
Regularly uses hands, arms, and vision for handling parts and reviewing documentation.
Must be able to communicate clearly in person and by telephone.
Subject to working in varying warehouse/shop conditions and occasional outdoor exposure.
Role involves recurring deadlines, inventory cycles, and emergency call backs.
