JOB SUMMARY: PG H106
Performs work involving maintenance skills to keep machines or mechanical equipment in repair. Duties involve repairing mechanical equipment; clean, inspect, and/or lubricates recyclable sorting equipment or performs routine maintenance or minor repairs on recycling equipment, such as start gears, finger sorters, de-stoners, belts, grinders, conveyors, screens, gear drives, and bearings. Reports directly to Plant Maintenance Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Performs routine maintenance and repair work.
Two years of progressively responsible experience working as a mechanic's helper or comparable position is preferred.
Intermediate proficiency in welding; welding certification is desirable but not required.
Any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Basic Windows and computer knowledge and skill level required.
Required to work days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and weather events as scheduled or needed in accordance with departmental policies. Employees may work 8 – 12hours daily. Overtime is required when needed.
During emergency events operators are required to work 7 days a week for 10 to 12 hours per day.
Licenses and Certifications:
Position of or ability to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver License with a tanker endorsement within six months of hire date is preferred. Selected candidate must successfully pass a three-year motor vehicle check.
Possession of or ability to obtain to obtain forklift certification within 6 months from date of hire.

As a disaster team member, the employee is required to be available to work before, during, and after any disaster as directed.Knowledge of:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Performs preventive maintenance checks as scheduled.
Performs routine maintenance and repair work.
Performs preventative and breakdown maintenance on recycling equipment including but not limited to balers, conveyor belts, bearings, pulleys, motors and drive gear motors.
Notifies others of emergencies, problems, or hazards.
Sweeps and uses shovels to clean facility when needed.
Maintains and organizes plant maintenance department tool room.
Maintains various activity records and logs of supplies and equipment used.
Inventories or restocks frequently used supplies and materials.
Performs repairs of mechanical equipment used in the wastewater industry, Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) and compost facility.
Performs general maintenance tasks necessary to maintain facilities and performs general cleaning/housekeeping maintenance tasks. Work days, but may be called to work weekends, evenings, and weather-related events to perform emergency work as assigned.
Overhauls pumps, motors, and other equipment.
Observes, tests, and inspects equipment and machinery for proper operation.
Maintains tools and equipment.
Extracts scheduled preventive maintenance checks from the asset management system and takes action as required.
All other duties as assigned.
