Over the past decade, Emerald Communities has expanded its Redmond campus and created a new start-up community in Gig Harbor. We have plans to continue expanding our existing communities and pursue other growth opportunities.
The Staff Accountant plays a key role in the daily accounting operations of Emerald Communities. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, this position will further define Emerald Communities fixed asset accounting while also overseeing accounting activities for a diverse area of the business.

Pay: $75,000-$82,000
Primary Responsibilities:
Fixed Assets
- Track and analyze in process Capital Acquisition Requests, ensuring purchases are in alignment with original requests and estimates.
- Coordinate with project leads on project status and any outstanding expenditures.
- Record Capitalization upon completion of project with schedules and asset type.
- Accurate and timely reconciliation of Construction in Process, generation of depreciation, and continual maintenance of existing fixed asset records.
Month-End
- Review and record various month-end activities, including Point-Of-Sale Transactions, allocations of revenue, and accruals in support of food and beverage operations.
- Generate and create reports for management, as necessary.
Reconciliations
- Reconcile sub-ledger from various modules to General Ledger reports.
- Reconcile outstanding deposit liabilities with current statuses of residency.
- Review Restricted Fund Use and charitable contributions.
- Provide assistance with other reconciliations, as necessary.
Other Duties
- Manages deposits and ensures accurate coding and allocations.
- Record new vendors into AP system and prepare 1099s.
- Support audit requests and perform related analysis.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent education and experience.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in accounting roles with demonstrated understanding and application of GAAP, including work experience in Fixed Assets Accounting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience with ERP accounting system and ability to learn new software as necessary.
- Excellent organizational abilities, keen attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines, strong communication skills, solution-oriented, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team.
