Wound Care Nurse Job Description
Purpose of the position :
The Skin & Wound Care nurse is accountable for the management and coordination of wound care / tissue viability and nursing services within the Wound Care clinic an Inpatient Services.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- The wound care nurses have to treat the skin reactions of the patients
- Treat or manage vascular ulcers, diabetic ulcers and all the other type of ulcers
- Treat all the types of open wounds, scars or skin infections
- Taking proper measures to reduce worsen or infections of the wounds
- Treating and assessing the draining wounds and fistulae problems
- Practicing the comprehensive wound management to control odor and performing causative factors
- Complete weekly wounds evaluation and documentation
- Assist the wound care team to conduct rounds
- Assist in educating the staff with wound prevention
- Implementing preventive measures in order to reduce the incidences of ulcers and wounds is also an important part of the duty of a wound care nurse
- Educating the patient about the wound or ulcers
