Description
The Lead Sportsbook Wagering Writer sells tickets and provides information that enables guests to wager on various sporting events as well as providing training and assistance to sportsbook staff.
Starting wage is $21.73/hr increasing to $22.32/hr at successful completion of 90-day orientation period. This full-time position features excellent employer-paid medical, dental, vision and life insurance benefits.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Provides direction, training, and assistance to sports wagering staff.
- Provides recommendations for staffing, scheduling, evaluations, and disciplinary actions to sports wagering management.
- Issues and cashes sports wagering wagers in an accurate and efficient manner.
- Verifies the accuracy of each wager and pay out transaction.
- Does not show favoritism or interest in any particular team or game.
- Assists in explaining and promoting various sports betting transactions and wagering options to guests.
- Resolves minor customer issues and complaints.
- Counts and maintains department tokes.
- Maintains a neat, efficient, and well stocked work station.
- Utilizes and maintains an accurate cash drawer, scanning equipment, computer and other related sports wagering equipment.
- Ensures daily cash drawer balances at the end of each shift.
- Assists in the resolution of customer challenges.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Two years of cash handling experience is required.
- One year of cashing checks and cash drawer experience with a casino or bank is preferred.
- One year of sports wagering experience is preferred.
- Additional education or experience may substitute for the minimum requirements of the position.
COMPETENCIES:
The Lead Sports Wagering Writer possesses in-depth knowledge of sports wagering policies, procedures, and terminology, including handicapping, point spreads, money lines, and various betting options, as well as basic casino operations and regulatory compliance such as SAR responsibilities and Title 31 regulations. Skilled in cash handling, balancing cash drawers, reconciling monetary instruments, and providing exceptional customer service, they excel in receiving and exchanging cash, checks, and gaming chips while ensuring accuracy and efficiency. With strong communication abilities, both verbal and written, they effectively explain wagering options and maintain compliance with all financial and operational procedures.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Standing for an extended period of time
- Using hand and eye coordination to receive and exchange cash, coins, checks and gaming chips
- Repetitively lifting, bending, and stooping
- Lifting items weighing up to 40 pounds
- Working in a loud, smoke-filled casino environment
- Must be able to work all scheduled shifts to include day, swing, graveyard and holidays
Must be able to obtain a Class IIIA license as required by the Puyallup Tribal Gaming Regulatory Office and the Washington State Gaming Commission. The Emerald Queen is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
