Description

Construction & Landscape Technician

Broad Function: Skilled/un-skilled field construction and landscaping labor. Installation of erosion and sediment control BMP products and services, hydroseeding, site maintenance (property maintenance, habitat maintenance, street sweeping, weed abatement, levee maintenance, general site repair).

Accountability:

  • The Erosion Control Technician is directly accountable to the crew lead & foreman.

Working Environment & Conditions:

  • Working conditions are varied.
  • Uneven ground surfaces.
  • Exposure to the outdoors, extreme weather conditions, dirt, noise
  • Overtime as needed.
  • Fast pace and changing work conditions and locations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting and/or moving to 50 – 75 pounds occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Frequent long periods of standing, sitting, walking, bending.


Duties and Responsibilities - Daily duties may include the following as needed:

  • General construction and landscape labor:
  • Erosion & sediment BMP installation; straw wattle, ground cover blankets, perimeter & silt fencing, drain inlet protection, hydroseeding, straw blowing.
  • Site maintenance, weed abatement, weed-eating, site mowing (equipment & tractors), brush clearing, ditch cleaning.
  • Levee maintenance; tree climbing, chipping, mowing, hand crew work, grading, 
  • repairs, trash removal.
  • General site repair; concrete removal & repair, asphalt repair, meter repairs, demolition, soil export.
  • Operate equipment (skid steers, mini-excavators, mower tractors, trenching equipment).
  • Operate power tools (weed-eaters, post pounders, chainsaws).
  • Use of hand tools (various).
  • Yard Support:
  • Assist in maintaining yard and storage areas for efficient organization of fleet vehicles, and equipment.
  • Assist in maintaining yard and storage areas for appearance and/or cleanliness.
  • Assist with loading and unloading of crew vehicles/trailers, and delivery trucks.
  • Assist with equipment cleaning and washdown/power washing.
  • Assist with yard/shop improvement and maintenance projects.
  • Operate company vehicles and equipment in yard to relocate and/or move, including forklift.
  • General:
  • Operation of Class C company vehicles for valid driver licenses.
  • Support and follow all company and safety policies.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Able to work independently and contribute to a team environment.
  • Professional, courteous, and positive attitude.



Bonus Qualifications and Skills:

  • High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate).
  • Valid and clean driver’s license.
  • Basic math, reading, and writing skills.
  • Experience with tools, working on equipment, mechanically inclined.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to set priorities, and manage multiple task functions simultaneously, and work independently.
