What are the responsibilities and job description for the Conformal Coating Operator position at Emerald Technologies?
Emerald Technologies has an exciting opportunity for one new skillful Conformal Coater to join its Brea, CA team! Conformal Coaters perform masking, epoxy, and other manual operations for the purpose of providing environmental protection for printed circuit boards to ensure quality is on par with customer specifications. Qualified candidates must have a strong attention to detail and great manual dexterity as this position frequently is required to sit while applying conformal coating to areas of the printed circuit board that the machines cannot cover or spray. Face masks are required while performing duties as there is a regular exposure to coating materials such as parylene, humiseal, acrylics, urethanes, epoxies, and other chemicals.
Responsibilities of Conformal Coating:
- Assist Conformal Coating Machine Technicians by manually loading boards into machines, applying conformal coating to areas of the printed circuit board that the machines cannot cover or spray.
- Manually load and unload through the UV over.
- Using UV light, hold and inspect circuit boards to touch-up conformal coated material.
- Pull and cut masking tape from the dispenser to cover or mask all specified areas to be protected from conformal coating.
- Use tweezers to unmask or remove all masking tape materials per work instructions and follow established procedures.
- Visually and manually inspect printed circuit boards for epoxy cure, bubbles and voids in epoxy using established procedures to ensure product quality.

Qualifications of Conformal Coating:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience in an electronics manufacturing environment with electronic components is preferred.
- IPC-610 and/or J-STD-001 Certification is preferred.
- Ability to apply conformal coating manually with good hand dexterity.
- Ability to see details at a close range.
- Must have strong attention to detail.
