Job Purpose
The Automated Winding Engineer is responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of automated winding machines used for electrical distribution transformer cores.
This role requires expertise in both sheet and wire winding equipment, with a focus on programming, calibration, process optimization, and quality control.
The engineer will troubleshoot issues, ensure high-quality production standards, and collaborate with various teams to improve winding processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify, configure, and set up automated winding machines for wire and sheet winding processes, ensuring proper setup for transformer core winding specifications.
- Program and adjust winding machine parameters to meet precise specifications for transformer coil winding, including wire tension, coil winding speed, and layering.
- Continuously analyze and optimize winding processes for maximum efficiency, quality, and throughput while minimizing downtime and waste.
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of winding machines to ensure they are operating at peak performance.
Identify root causes of operational issues and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure that all winding processes meet quality standards and specifications. Inspect finished windings for defects and work with quality control teams to address any issues.
- Maintain detailed records of setup, production runs, machine maintenance, and process changes. Provide reports and feedback on process improvements.
- Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to identify improvements, troubleshoot problems, and implement solutions in the winding process.
- Train machine operators and other staff members on the proper use of winding equipment and best practices for machine operation and maintenance.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field is required.
- 3 years of relevant experience required.
- Experience with accounting systems or ERP is a plus.
- Must have excellent organizational skills and be detail-oriented.
- Ability to clearly communicate across all levels of the organization; written, verbal, and interpersonal.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, multi-task, balance priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Must have a team player attitude with a desire to support the company as a whole.
