What are the responsibilities and job description for the '25/'26 School Year Part-Time JustLead Afterschool AmeriCorps Positions position at Emerald Youth Foundation?
Emerald Youth Foundation has paid, part-time positions available this school year starting as soon as August 4, 2025 serving in their afterschool programs.These are available through the AmeriCorps program and a great opportunity to make a big difference in your life and in the lives of city young people in Knoxville. It is not employment but national service, and if you have a practicum or internship to fulfill for school, it can count towards that.
Benefits:
- GET PAID UP TO $9,450 (called a living allowance) and serve 15-20 hours afterschool each week.

- ADD VALUABLE SERVICE EXPERIENCE to your resume.
There are 3 kinds of AmeriCorps positions available afterschool with Emerald Youth this year and position options range from semester only to the full school year. Ideal availability are between the hours of 2:00 and 6:00 p.m., Monday – Friday: - General Afterschool Role - Lead varying structured learning and enrichment activities afterschool with elementary or middle school students.
- Learning Role - Perfect for aspiring teachers and/or to fulfill a teaching practicum. Facilitate components of and implement incentives for elementary and middle school students as part of the on-site computer learning lab.
- RecSports Role - Perfect for those interested in sports, health, and fitness. Plan and implement structured health and recreational activities for both elementary and middle school students.
**Note: Applicants must be a certified U.S. citizen, a national, or legal permanent resident. Emerald Youth prefers applicants to be at least 18 years of age or turning 18 shortly after the start date. A high school diploma or GED is required prior to completion of the service term.

For returning applicants ONLY: If you’ve served as an AmeriCorps member with Emerald Youth previously, you do not have to complete the reference portion again. AmeriCorps is a federally funded program, and members are not allowed to use any of their AmeriCorps hours for religious activities. If you would like to participate in these activities, you may do so as a volunteer.
What is Emerald Youth?
We are a Christian ministry serving city kids since 1991. Every year, Emerald Youth serves more than 3,000 children, teens, and young adults in the heart of Knoxville through faith, learning, and health programs. Emerald Youth's AmeriCorps members serve in the afterschool and summer programs of JustLead.
