What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer 2025 AmeriCorps position at Emerald Youth Foundation?
Emerald Youth Foundation has paid, positions available to serve in their JustLead Summer Day Camps.These are available through the AmeriCorps program and a great opportunity to make a big difference in your life and in the lives of city young people in Knoxville. It is not employment but national service, and if you have a practicum or internship to fulfill for school, it can count towards that.
Benefits:
- GET PAID a total of $4,200 (called a living allowance) for 10 weeks of service (35-40 hours M - F during the day).
- RECEIVE TRAINING through Emerald Youth University and participate in fun, team-building activities.
- EARN A SCHOLARSHIP OF $1,565 (called an education award) to pay tuition or student loans.
- ADD VALUABLE SERVICE EXPERIENCE to your resume.
**Note: Applicants must be a certified U.S. citizen, a national, or legal permanent resident. Emerald Youth prefers applicants to be at least 18 years of age or turning 18 shortly after the start date. A high school diploma or GED is required prior to completion of the service term.
There are 3 kinds of AmeriCorps positions available with Emerald Youth this spring:
- General Children's or Youth/Children's Role - Lead learning and enrichment activities with elementary school students.
- Learning Role - Facilitate the computer learning lab for elementary and/or middle school students. **Perfect for aspiring teachers and/or to fulfill a teaching practicum.
- RecSports Role - Facilitate the planning and implementation of structured health and recreational activities for both the elementary and middle school age groups. **Perfect for sports majors.
3 Different References are Needed!

At least 2 of your references should be professional and 1 should be a personal/character reference. A total of 3 different reference forms (completed by 3 different individuals) should be returned via the provided online link. Note: The references CANNOT be family members.
For returning applicants ONLY: If you’ve served as an AmeriCorps member with Emerald Youth previously, you do not have to complete the reference portion again. However, a separate reapplication is still necessary. Please request this from Rachel Davis directly at rdavis@emeraldyouth.org if you are interested in reapplying.

AmeriCorps is a federally funded program, and members are not allowed to use any of their AmeriCorps hours for religious activities. If you would like to participate in these activities, you may do so as a volunteer.
What is Emerald Youth?
We are a Christian ministry serving city kids since 1991. Every year, Emerald Youth serves more than 3,000 children, teens, and young adults in the heart of Knoxville through faith, learning, and health programs. Emerald Youth's AmeriCorps members serve in the afterschool and summer programs of JustLead focusing on learning and health.
