Emerald is seeking a Senior Editor for our Retail TouchPoints team. Retail TouchPoints and design:retail give all members of the retail world access to a vibrant community that combines insights, inspiration and opportunities to interact with their peers. We sit at the intersection of the art and science of retail strategy, providing granular data, high-value commentary, and aspirational success stories to help readers optimize customer experiences across all channels. Touching all facets of the retail ecosystem, including store experience and design, workforce management, digital marketing and engagement, and omnichannel optimization, our editorial content, multi-media resources and events take timely news and trends and transform them into tactical takeaways that meet the unique needs and priorities of our executive readers.
Retail TouchPoints is looking for a new Senior Editor to help drive the daily editorial coverage for our audience. We are looking for a detail-oriented writer and editor with a passion for learning about new technologies, marketing trends and retail experiences that are driving the industry forward. Our ideal candidate will have a constant finger on the pulse of the retail space, and eager to uncover new angles and talking points to serve our executive audience. Our new Senior Editor will also have a willingness to support and interact through our new media channels, including webinars, podcasts, videos and even in-person events. Retail TouchPoints has been in high-growth mode since our inception, and we're eager to add a passionate, media-savvy member of our team!
Responsibilities
- Research and develop long-form editorial content, including case studies and trend features, to align with specific retail audiences for the Retail TouchPoints newsletter and website.
- Focus on covering and developing relevant stories focused on brick-and-mortar stores and their contribution to a retailer’s business, including store design, merchandising, employee hiring/training, autonomous/unmanned stores, in-store technology (e.g. digital signage), general store operations, payment systems, loss prevention and inventory management.
- Develop new story ideas and angles to publish and share with the Retail TouchPoints community across the website, social media, our podcast and other channels.
- Edit and publish daily news items to the Retail TouchPoints site.
- Research and interview industry experts to gather information to support stories and trend coverage.
- Revise, edit and fact check stories as needed to support the editorial team.
- Actively promote Retail TouchPoints content, events and campaigns across Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. Participate in constructive conversations on social media regarding relevant industry news and hot topics.
- Communicate effectively with the marketing team, editors, designers and other team members across the organization regarding upcoming editorial stories and sponsorship opportunities.
- Collaborate with the marketing team on copywriting and messaging positioning for lead generation campaigns and other activation plans.
- Willingness to participate in new media experiences, such as moderating webinars, speaking on podcasts and hosting video interviews.
Qualifications
- 5-7years of business writing and editing experience, including:
- Experience in B2B writing, knowledge of the retail and marketing industries a plus
- Experience writing for one or more of the following industries: IT used by businesses (cloud applications and services, data analytics, security, eCommerce, CRM, ERP, BPM, SCM, Social Media, etc.) Healthcare, Human Resources, Manufacturing, Financial Services, and Energy/Utilities.
- Excellent business writing skills
- Experience using project management tools like Microsoft Teams, Slack, SmartSheet and others
- Ability to manage multiple projects and readjust priorities in order to meet deadlines
- Self-motivated and independent thinker
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to develop and present creative ideas to a broader team
- Attention to detail as well as a holistic vision for brand strategy and business growth
- Must be comfortable interacting with sources via phone and email
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced work environment
- Ability to adapt to style requirements
- Fluency with PC or Mac, GoogleDocs, Word, Excel, and Adobe reader
- Fluency with all key social media outlets such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn
- Fluency in WordPress and Elementor a plus
