Clinical Support Specialist
Position Summary:
Provide administrative support to the clinical services team.
Principal Responsibilities
- Perform general administrative functions: typing, copying, filing, and scanning.
- Perform general receptionist functions: greet/service clients and visitors, check-in clients and verify/collect their information, notify clinicians when their clients have arrived, answer and transfer calls.
- Maintain a neat and organized reception area and ensure it is securely locked before leaving.
- Maintain the clinical schedule: set appointments, ensure to prevent conflicting appointments, and make daily appointment reminder calls.
- Maintain cancellation list and attempt to fill cancelled appointment slots.
- Distribute paperwork to clients, review forms for accuracy, and obtain signatures, as needed.
- Assist with billing functions: verify insurance through online and/or telephonic means, obtain insurance authorizations.
- Provide additional billing support as assigned by the supervisor (data entry, reports, claims processing, etc.).
- Maintain client records according to the organization’s policies and procedures.
- Maintain organization, Ohio MHAS, and CARF required training.
- Maintain license or registration appropriate to profession and appropriate to job requirement, including appropriate amount of continuing education at all times of employment.
- Maintain strict confidentiality at all times.
- Other duties as assigned.

Pay is competitive and commiserate with experience.
Required Knowledge, Abilities, and Working Conditions
Knowledge of: Customer service techniques/skills, safety rules and procedures, the organization’s policies and procedures. Basic understanding of clinical office operations.
Abilities: Multitask and work independently with minimal supervision. Communicate information clearly and effectively. Standing, bending, stooping, sitting, walking, reaching above and below shoulder, repetitive use of hands to operate office equipment. Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
Working Conditions: Standard office/clinical office setting. May require weekend, evening, and holiday hours. May be exposed to clients who are potentially angry or violent. General exposure to standard office equipment (computers, monitors, copiers, etc.).
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Experience in working with Microsoft Office products, including email.
- Experience with using and navigating Electronic Health Records (EHR) and other industry related types of applications.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Minimum two (2) years of experience working in a standard office/clinical office environment.
- Experience working in a mental health and/or addiction treatment agency a plus.
