Position Title : Clerical Specialist

Position Type : Full-Time
Salary : $44,000 - $48,000 per year
Responsibilities :
- Examine envelopes to determine appropriate routing based on specific program needs (e.g., Eligibility Enrollment and Verification (EEV), Civilian Health and Medical Programs Veteran Affairs (CHAMPVA), Spina Bifida, CHAMPVA Foreign (CVAF), and Foreign Medical Program (FMP)).
- Identify and route claims or related correspondence according to program-specific criteria, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Operate high-speed scanning equipment to digitize documents and select correct job types for proper routing.
- Monitor scanning results for accuracy and store digital images in an imaging database for search, index, and printing.
- Prioritize scanning tasks to meet departmental timeliness metrics and mission goals.
- Perform Wand Scanning / Batching by manually scanning claim identifiers with a barcode reader, creating summary lists, verifying page counts, and organizing claims by receipt date for transport to the Health Care Processing Unit (HCPU).
- Process EEV Mail Intake by identifying and electronically processing documents for individuals not yet enrolled, applying specific application barcodes per EEV requirements.
- Handle Bad Address processing by organizing undeliverable mail, eliminating duplicates, and flagging invalid addresses in the central beneficiary database, following a first-in, first-out system.
Qualifications :
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in a related field preferred.Minimum of 2 years of clerical or administrative experience including document processing and mail handling.Familiarity with High-Speed Scanning Equipment : Experience operating high-speed scanners and managing digital imaging processes.Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.Problem-Solving Skills : Capability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to document processing and routing.Knowledge of VA policies and procedures is a plus.Working Conditions :
Work to be performed at Veteran Health Administration Center. 3773 Cherry Creek Dr. N, Denver, CO 80209. At a future date, tasks shall be performed at the Denver Federal Center, located at West 6th Avenue and Kipling Strebnet, Lakewood, CO 80225.Work to be performed Monday through Friday, from 0700 to 1530 excluding federal holidays.No travel required.Security Clearance :
Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance as required by the VA.Training Requirements :
All personnel must complete mandatory VA training courses before accessing VA information and systems.Ongoing training and certification to stay current with VA policies and federal regulations.Key Performance Indicators :
