Inspector

Start your career in aerospace manufacturing! Emerge is currently hiring for the position of Fluorescent Penetrant Inspector (FPI). This role is in Winsted, CT and comes with a $3,000 sign-on bonus! It is second shift (3pm-11:30pm). The starting rate is $21 /hr (BOE), plus a $2/hr shift differential. The company offers excellent benefits and 401k match, as well as yearly raises!

As an FPI Inspector, your duties will include:

• Performing inspections across receiving, final, and in-process stages for various part types.
• Preparing materials through pre-clean operations before FPI.
• Operating FPI lines and conducting process checks.
• Completing daily and weekly calibration checks.
• Following operational guidelines and maintaining all quality documentation.

Essential Functions:

• Maintain comprehensive quality records.
• Set up and operate airflow, water flow, and moment weight gauges.
• Process parts through power washing, ultrasonic cleaning, FPI lines, and pre-etch steps.
• Perform system and calibration checks each shift.
• Restock penetrant and department supplies.
• Assist Level II inspectors with part handling.
• Maintain at least FPI Level I certification.
• Help train new inspectors and FPI personnel.
• Perform continuous, high-visual-concentration inspections for up to 2 hours.
• Escalate issues to the Quality Engineer or FPI Level III when required.
• Conduct final inspections of parts according to OP sketch requirements.
• Perform 6S audits and meet other area standards.
• Complete 160 hours of on-the-job Level I processing training, plus 20 classroom hours, to obtain FPI Level I certification and work toward Level II certification.

Qualifications/Education:

• High School Diploma or GED required.

Skills and Abilities:

• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals, fractions).
• Familiarity with formulas, charts, tables, drawings, specifications, and schedules.
• Experience with adjustable measuring instruments and data interpretation.

Experience:

• At least 1 year of manufacturing inspection experience is preferred; FPI experience is beneficial but not required
