Copywriting Intern (Summer 2025)

THE POSITION

We are seeking a writer to assist our copywriting team. You will be responsible for writing, proofreading, and editing copy for creative projects such as: websites, social media and out-of-home campaigns, video scripts, newsletters, reports, and more. You will also contribute to the strategic planning process by reviewing primary and secondary research that underpins our approach to creative work.

You will report to the Senior Copywriter, an experienced copywriter, strategist, and creative who will help you develop your writing and thinking skills. You will also gain experience working with a wide range of leading social impact organizations focused on issues like global health, sustainability, urban innovation, criminal justice reform, and more.

Job duties include:

• Writing about a wide range of topics across many different formats (websites, social media platforms, strategy presentations, video scripts, articles, etc.)
• Research into the critical focus areas of our clients, which include global development, public health, innovation, social justice, and the environment
• Editing and fact-checking copy written by other team members and clients for grammar, style, and accuracy
• Creative brainstorming with other writers, strategists, and designers
• Attending meetings, taking notes, and assisting with project management as needed

WHO YOU ARE

• A rising third or fourth-year college student, a recent college graduate, or a graduate student who is considering a career in creative writing, advertising, communications, and/or social impact
• A skilled writer with samples of past work (e.g., essays, research papers, short stories, scripts, articles, etc.) and/or a portfolio to demonstrate this
• A careful, precise editor with strong attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency
• A creative thinker who is able to devise novel solutions to storytelling across different mediums 
• A team player who works well in a collaborative environment with teammates and clients across a diverse range of identities, geographies, mindsets, and experiences
• A passionate, thoughtful advocate for social justice who has some amount of subject matter knowledge related to our focus areas

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

• Recognizes the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace and broadly in society
• Has previous experience in proofreading and/or copyediting
• Has experience working in a creative environment (marketing, visual arts, etc.)
• Is open to full-time work following the completion of the internship (or, in the case of a student, their graduation)
• Has experience working professionally on contemporary social media platforms (TikTok, Facebook, X/Twitter, Reddit, etc.)
• Can commit to working at least 40 hours per week throughout Summer 2025.

LOGISTICS

• The internship program will last 12 weeks, June 2, 2025 - August 29, 2025. 
• This is a paid internship. Your time is valuable. 
• The position is fully remote, but the role works east coast hours, approximately 9am-5pm EST.
• Laptops are not provided, interns are asked to use their own computers.
• If you are located in the US, you must have existing work authorization or be immediately eligible for student practical training programs (e.g., CPT or OPT). Unfortunately, we cannot sponsor work visas for this position.
