Position Summary
The Indiana University Jacobs School of Music seeks a candidate for a faculty position in Music in General Studies, beginning August 1, 2025. This is a full-time, ten-month, tenure-ineligible position with an initial three-year appointment at the rank of Lecturer.
Responsibilities include teaching three undergraduate courses in music each semester. These classes are filled with general students from many disciplines, music minors, musical theater majors, and music majors. Course topics are broad and include subjects as diverse as music and science, popular music of the world, advanced music theory, and iconic popular musicians. Expertise across boundaries that includes arts and sciences disciplines is an asset for this position although the courses are focused specifically on music, rather than on cultural studies. The person in this position will be expected to develop course modules on these and other topics.
Basic Qualifications
Doctorate in music theory, composition, popular music, ethnomusicology, or related fields, and demonstrated record of teaching excellence at the collegiate level.
