Title
Postdoctoral Fellow (Zinc Metallochaperones)
Appointment Status
Non-Tenure Track
Department
IU Bloomington Chemistry
Location
Bloomington
Position Summary
The Department of Chemistry in the College of Arts Sciences, consists of a well-rounded research community with cutting-edge expertise in a wide variety of modern disciplines including materials chemistry, analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, and biochemistry.
The chemical biology area of the Department of Chemistry is located in Simon Hall on our heavily wooded campus. Simon Hall sits between the Biology and Chemistry buildings and is home to our graduate training program in Quantitative and Chemical Biology (https://iuqcb.indiana.edu). Simon Hall houses other biochemists and structural biologists and all structural biology and mass spectrometry core facilities. Physical proximity to the Chemistry Building promotes strong interactions with other groups in the inorganic, analytical and materials areas.
Job Summary:
Prof. Giedroc seeks a postdoctoral research associate as a member of a team of students and postdocs focused on a mechanistic understanding of an evolutionarily conserved COG0523 superfamily of GTP hydrolysis-dependent metallochaperones that function in cells under conditions of nutritional zinc starvation. Metallochaperone client protein discovery, biochemical and structural studies are proposed. A particular interest is vertebrate ZNG1 (PMC9189065).
