Position Summary
The Physics Department at Indiana University Bloomington invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow to support experimental studies of quantum liquids confined to one-dimension. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute significantly to the planning, execution and analysis of neutron scattering studies of confined helium.
This position offers a collaborative opportunity, with the fellow being based primarily at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The candidate will conduct neutron scattering studies at the Spallation Neutron Source, located at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, utilizing cutting-edge techniques to explore confined quantum systems. The appointment could begin as early as December 1, 2024, and is initially for one year, with the possibility of renewal for an additional year based on performance.
A Ph.D. in experimental condensed matter physics is required by time of appointment. Experience with neutron scattering and/or numerical simulations is an advantage but not a necessity.
