Job Summary
The Emergency Medicine Specialists of Orange County (EMSOC), one of the largest independent groups in California, is looking for Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs) who demonstrate excellence in patient care.
EMSOC's Allied Health Providers enjoy a key role in driving improvements in acute care and provide medical services under the supervision of an EMSOC physician in an Emergency Department setting.
Working as a member of the healthcare team, and as delegated by their supervising physician, PAs and NPs direct and oversee the management of patient care through the entirety of the patient's Emergency Department visit.
Essential Functions
Under the supervision of an assigned Physician, performs diagnostic and therapeutic tasks and renders varied medical services to provide comprehensive patient care, such as :
- Obtain patient history and perform physical examination.
- Make tentative diagnoses and decisions about management and treatment of patients.
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests.
- Issue appropriate prescriptions and administer medication.
- Prescribe therapy or medication with physician approval.
- Perform procedures including, but not limited to, laceration repair, foreign body removal, fracture care, splinting, wound and infection care.
- Documentation of patient visit, including medical history, physical examination, testing, progress notes, treatment, and diagnoses.
- Monitor for effective treatment and therapy.
- Instruct, educate, and counsel patients.
- Respond to medical emergencies including delivery of CPR.

Qualifications
Education
Master's Degree in accredited Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner program
Licensure
PA-C or FNP
Certifications
Certified via National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) for physician assistants, DEA license, ACLS / PALS certification.
