What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plumbing Technician position at Emergency Plumbing Heating & Air?
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Accurately diagnose system problems in a timely and efficient manner. Advise customers on issues related to repairs, installation, equipment design, and available options that are within the code. Braze metal parts or components or solder parts to repair defective joints and leaks. Cut materials according to specifications, drill holes in floors, walls, or roof to install equipment and/or piping, using power saws or drills. Cut, thread, or hammer pipes to specifications, using tools such as saws, cutting torches, pipe threaders, or pipe benders. Ensure that all work complies with current building codes, regulations, and permitting requirements. Estimate time, material, or labor costs for jobs. Follow all steps of the Field Daily Process (Perfect Service Call) in detail and with confidence. Inspect and test systems to verify system compliance and confirm proper operation. Lead and train apprentices in all aspects of the job. Measure, cut, thread, or bend pipe or tubing, using pipe fitter's tools. Order parts and materials, as required, when performing same-day repairs (10-minute search.) Order, pick up, deliver, and install materials and supplies needed to maintain equipment in good working condition. Present accurate findings and description of required services before work is performed. Provides options, advice, recommendations, and estimates. Properly signs equipment in and out for usage. Run after-hours calls and participates in the on-call rotation. Select pipe sizes, types, or related materials, such as supports or hangers, according to specifications. Stand inspections when applicable. Support Shop Inventory Manager by keeping all stocked and upcoming job parts organized, labeled, and in the proper location, and maintain/improve shop cleanliness, organization, and flow.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee will predominantly work on their feet and use their hands throughout the course of the day. The employee is regularly expected to follow instructions, listen, speak, reach with hands and arms, carry heavy objects, stretch, twist, stoop, crouch, kneel or crawl, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces; therefore, good physical strength, manual dexterity, multilimbed coordination, and stamina is required.
Visual Activity
The minimum visual activity of the seeing job is both far and close to the eyes and requires the ability to drive, inspect, and view/read computer tablets, and paperwork regularly.
Work Environment
The work environment for this position will require the individual to endure all weather conditions while working inside and outside of buildings/structures. Exposure to fumes and chemicals is possible. The work environment will subject employees to continual interruptions and changing priorities; therefore, the ability to concentrate on a task, to achieve completion, is required.
