Job Title: Specialty Vehicle Technician
Job Summary: The Specialty Vehicle Technician will perform maintenance and repair of all brands, makes, and models of ambulances and recreational vehicles. The Specialty Vehicle Technician will also serve customers at their locations with a company provided vehicle.
Reports to: Service Manager
Responsibilities and Duties:
Repair and maintain the specialized equipment found in ambulances and recreational vehicles.
Install modems, 2-way radios, AVL’s and other electronic components.
Trace and identify wiring, diagnose as needed.
Install and diagnose various ambulance or recreational vehicle interior/exterior components including 12v and 110v wiring, vehicle electronics, electrical harnesses, cables, switch panels, circuit boards, lights, trim, door handles, water pumps, and various other specialty vehicle systems.
Inspects, checks, and evaluates specialty vehicles and equipment for common maintenance problems, monitors fluid levels, replaces vehicle components according to industry standards, regulations, and protocols.
Determines and makes major improvements or modifications to new or existing specialty vehicles in accordance with customer needs and specifications; modifies, designs and fabricates special purpose equipment.
Participates in ordering parts and maintaining positive relationships with vendors.
Field calls for service, provides technical support, and prioritize multiple work orders with minimal or nor supervision.
Safely travel to customer sites and arrive within the scheduled appointment window.
Maintain the cleanliness and professional appearance of company provided vehicle and work space.
Other duties may be assigned based on needs of the company and workload.
Qualifications/Skills:
Required:
Must be a team player, enthusiastic, with a positive outlook and attitude.
Must have valid drivers license, pass background check, pass DOT drug test and DOT physical.
Must obtain CDL within the probationary period.
Four years of experience with mechanical repair and maintenance of at least two of the following areas:
Emergency response vehicles (fire apparatus, ambulance, police unit)
Recreational Vehicles
Automotive diesel
Over the road trucks
One year of related experience may be substituted for one year of education
Must own tools needed to perform essential responsibilities and duties described above.
Familiar with use of PC based computer including Microsoft Office Suite.
Focus on completing work with emphasis on quality workmanship.
Detailed oriented and organized under minimal supervision.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and team lift as needed for items above 50 pounds.
Regular bending, twisting, squatting, reaching, grasping, and working from various angles and heights.
Regular walking and standing on hard and/or uneven surfaces for 8 hours per day.
Preferred:
ASE certification(s)
EVT certification(s)
College degree or vocational certificate in the automotive industry
