Job Description:
Emergi-Pet is looking for a compassionate, organized, and detail-oriented Emergency Veterinary Receptionist to join our dedicated team. As the first point of contact for pet owners in need of urgent medical attention, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring our patients receive timely and compassionate care. This position requires someone who can handle high-stress situations with empathy, communicate effectively, and maintain a calm and welcoming environment in a fast-paced emergency setting.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist clients, ensuring a warm, welcoming, and professional atmosphere.
- Answer incoming phone calls and emails, providing accurate information and handling appointment scheduling for emergency cases.
- Manage emergency situations with calmness and efficiency, coordinating with the veterinary team to prioritize patient care.
- Collect and process client and pet information, including medical histories and payment details.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in our veterinary software system.
- Ensure the reception area is clean, organized, and well-stocked.
- Handle client inquiries regarding emergency care protocols, treatment plans, and billing.
- Process payments, including insurance claims, as required.
- Perform other administrative tasks as needed to support the veterinary team.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; further education or veterinary certification is a plus.
- Prior experience in a customer service or receptionist role, ideally in a veterinary or medical setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact compassionately with anxious pet owners.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, especially during emergencies.
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology and basic medical procedures is preferred but not required.
- Proficiency in computer software and data entry.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as emergency care requires availability at all times.
- Strong multitasking and organizational skills.
