What are the responsibilities and job description for the Boiler Plant Operator position at Emerging Tech, LLC?
Emerging Tech is seeking an experienced professional to join the team at the Hot Springs VA Medical Center. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our boiler plant, directly supporting the care and comfort of our nation’s veterans by maintaining essential facility operations.
What You'll Do
- Maintain efficient combustion levels using electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls alongside computer-generated data.
- Adjust firing controls, air-fuel mixtures, and draft levels for optimal combustion efficiency.
Conduct inspections and perform repairs on equipment, including boilers, burners, feedwater systems, chemical pumps, and reverse osmosis units.
- Maintain water softeners, chlorinators, and potable water systems, ensuring proper operation and safety.
Analyze and test boiler and feed water to determine chemical treatments required to maintain water quality and prevent corrosion or scale formation.
- Support facility Legionella prevention programs by maintaining proper chlorine residuals.
Ensure compliance with air emission regulations, monitor pollution control equipment, and maintain operation logs in accordance with Title 5 air permits.
- Adhere to safety protocols, including lockout/tag-out and confined space procedures, to provide a safe work environment.
Operate emergency generators during power outages to ensure uninterrupted operations.
What You'll Bring
Strong knowledge of steam generation, boiler operation, and fuel systems.
- Hands-on experience with #2 fuel oil systems, fuel storage tanks, and spill containment procedures.
- Proficiency in operating and maintaining auxiliary equipment, such as feedwater pumps, softeners, and reverse osmosis units.
- Ability to analyze data from gauges, meters, and computer systems to make adjustments for optimal performance.
- Skilled in using a variety of tools, including welding equipment, pipe wrenches, grinders, and combustion testing instruments.
- South Dakota Rural Water License for Basic Water Treatment (or ability to obtain).
- Familiarity with VHA boiler safety manuals and procedures.
- Capable of lifting and operating equipment safely.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail to maintain efficient operations and compliance.

Pay: $30 - $32 per hour
