Role Overview:
As a Senior EHR Clinical Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and optimizing EHR systems, particularly within the VA healthcare system. Leveraging your expertise, you’ll provide strategic and tactical guidance to ensure the seamless integration of complex IT systems with clinical workflows. This position combines leadership, innovation, and hands-on advisement to transform healthcare delivery through advanced technology.
What You'll Do:
- Develop and implement strategic direction, policies, and procedures for informatics and information systems.
- Lead the selection, development, and integration of highly complex technical systems, focusing on clinical information and EHR management.
- Act as a senior advisor to the Office of the Functional Champion, providing expertise in EHR implementation best practices, operational strategies, and process improvement.
- Collaborate with IT and clinical staff to ensure effective system integration with institutional applications.
- Support the VA EHR Reset Project Lead across multiple workstreams, including clinical standardization and EHR design governance.
- Identify and develop innovative solutions for healthcare industry challenges, particularly within the VA healthcare system.
- Provide strategic counsel to EHRM-IO leadership, offering recommendations on EHR optimization and deployment.
- Lead and direct teams, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and timelines.
What You'll Bring:
- 10 years of professional experience in health IT, informatics, or related fields.
- Comprehensive knowledge of EHR systems (e.g., Cerner, Oracle Health) and healthcare informatics.
- Ph.D. in Healthcare, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or 15 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree).
- Strong background in strategic planning and implementing IT systems in healthcare or other specialized industries.
- Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and projects with a focus on creativity and innovation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience working within the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
- Familiarity with the Cerner model and its recommendations for EHR implementations.
