What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ultrasound Technician position at Emerging Tech?
Join the Department of Veterans Affairs at the Captain James A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (FHCC) in Chicago as an Ultrasound Technician. In this role, you’ll be an integral part of a dedicated team providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services to our nation’s Veterans. You’ll work alongside Radiologic Technologists, Physicians, Advanced Practice Nurses, and other allied health professionals to deliver comprehensive care to both inpatient and outpatient Veterans.
What You’ll Do:
- Performing a wide range of diagnostic ultrasound examinations, including general ultrasound (thyroid, abdomen, pelvis, etc.), breast ultrasound, vascular Doppler imaging, and more.
- Ensuring high-quality image processing and documentation within our 100% digital imaging and storage system (PACS) and Oracle/Cerner Electronic Health Record (EHR) applications.
- Assisting physicians with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures by preparing patients and equipment.
- Maintaining patient records, equipment, and reporting any malfunctions promptly.
- Recognizing and responding to emergency situations with initiative and sound judgment.
- Providing compassionate patient care by explaining procedures, easing anxieties, and maintaining strict patient privacy and confidentiality.
What You’ll Bring
- A full and unrestricted license to practice in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia. Your qualifications will be reviewed and approved by the FHCC Chief of Staff and Facility Director.
- Certification through ARRT-US or the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), along with at least one year of experience performing general and vascular ultrasound examinations.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English to ensure clear communication with patients and team members.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association-recognized provider. (Note: Renewal of BLS certification is your responsibility.)
- Evidence of completed licensure, credentials, required training, current competencies, and a cleared background investigation.
- Basic computer literacy, with a preference for experience using Oracle/Cerner Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. Don’t worry—we’ll provide training on our EHR system!
