Electro-Mechanical Designer

General Description:

The role is responsible for the design & drafting of fixtures, enclosures, panels, safety cages, and other structures related to automated test equipment. This includes full system assemblies down to individual component drawings designed and developed at the direction of lead project engineer. Modify existing designs and create new ones as required. Work closely with manufacturing team to ensure product is built to specification. Opportunity to expand into controls, automation, electrical design & drafting including on-the-job training.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Take direction from Project Engineers supporting system development
• Use Solidworks for 3D modeling and 2D drawings
• Use & maintain component libraries for purchased items
• Design, Model, and Draft custom components (machined & fabricated)
• Create and maintain system level assemblies
• Ensure proper clearances are maintained between components
• Create component and assembly drawings
• Understand and apply dimensional tolerances to assemblies
• Specify and select structural materials required for each application
• Maintain project level bills of materials
• Other drafting & drawings as required

Skills & Knowledge

• Must be proficient using Solidworks
• Certified Solidworks Associate in Mechanical Design Preferred (CSWA)
• Minimum 3 years' experience solid modeling
• Minimum 3 years' experience in drafting
• Proficient using AutoCAD (preferred)
• Microsoft software including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
• Prefer experience with large assembly management
