What are the responsibilities and job description for the Group Manager, Documentation Services position at Emerson Career Site?
As the Group Manager within the Documentation Services organization, you will manage a team of Documentation Program Managers to execute on the vision, strategy, and roadmap for documentation across multiple products and industries! You will be responsible for developing and growing your team, leading project requests, and collaborating with key customers across Documentation Services, R&D, Marketing, IT, and Support to ensure that NI provides an optimal documentation experience for both internal and external customers!
The NI Documentation Services organization is undergoing a digital transformation to improve our documentation support capabilities, spanning the entire customer journey from pre-sales to post-sales. This role will be instrumental in driving this transformation by ensuring the effective implementation of data-informed content strategies, information architecture principles, and industry-standard processes.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop and grow your team through coaching, mentorship, and structured development opportunities.
- Oversee documentation requests and own the team’s project roadmaps to ensure alignment with organizational priorities.
- Find opportunities for efficiency gains, propose relevant plans, and implement approved initiatives to enhance the documentation program’s effectiveness.
- Work closely with Information Architects and the Documentation Strategy team to prioritize and support strategic documentation initiatives.
- Collaborate with other Documentation leaders to help define the direction of the Documentation Services organization.
- Cultivate an environment of innovation and continuous improvement within the Documentation Program Management team.
- Support and streamline data sources for doc program management, such as sales and bookings data, ni.com data, content health data, and company priorities.
- Effectively communicate documentation vision, strategy, and priorities to partner teams and to org members.
- Optimally communicate program/project status, tradeoffs, risks, and priorities to stakeholders including, but not limited to, senior leadership.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience leading and developing teams
- 5 years of project management, leadership, product ownership, and/or content strategy
- Strong leadership presence and ability to build and maintain critical relationships
- Proven ability to get things done in a complex organization through influence, collaboration, data, and deep knowledge of our documentation experience
- You influence decisions and change management through collaboration, leadership, and a customer-focused approach
- Ability to lead through challenging situations and decisions
- Ability to make and own key decisions as a business leader, while balancing input from key customers
- Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills across various levels of the organization including the ability to influence at all levels
- Strong capacity for leading change, dealing with ambiguity, and providing creative solutions without sacrificing sustainability and scalability
- Solid knowledge of technical documentation standard processes and enterprise documentation strategy in the digital era
- Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder
