Job Functions
- Greet patients upon arrival, maintains orderliness of reception area and Front desk ensuring patient confidentiality.
- -Answer phones and retrieves and distributes messages appropriately.
- -Processes patients quickly and accurately through the computer based scheduling system for future appointments, surgeries and/or testing as appropriate for patient care.
- -Orders necessary office and medical supplies and insures security of all medications.
- -Captures and enters high quality patient demographic and financial information via telephone interviews and hard copy (mail-in, facsimile, etc.)
- -Identifies insurance coverage and payer requirements for hospital services, processes insurance verification and other basic benefits information for patients, as necessary.
- -Communicates with physicians’ offices and staff in a timely and professional manner.
- -Maintains and supports patient’s rights to care, privacy and respect.
- -Schedules and coordinate surgical procedures with the hospital and the patient
- -Enters daily and surgical billing charges to Athena
- -Other duties as assigned from time to time.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: One to three years Administrative Assistant/Medical Office preferred.
- Licensure and/or Certification: Graduate of a Medical Assistant/Secretary program preferred.
- Skills:
- -Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and moderate keyboarding is required.
- -Knowledge of GE Centricity to access and utilize electronic medical records preferred.
- -Knowledge of Athena based scheduling/billing software helpful
- -Strong customer service skills.
- -Excellent organizational skills, detail oriented with strong ability to multi-task required.
- -Familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
- -Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
- -Knowledge of patient billing, account processes, third party billing and revenue cycle preferred.
- -Ability to maintain confidential information required.
