Job Summary
- Reports to the Social Work Manager. In partnership with nurses in the Care Management Department, social workers’ focus is to assess and provide support to patients and families in the ED. Completes psychosocial assessments which enable them to address a range of issues including adjustment to illness, safety and protection, socioeconomic issues, non-compliance, cultural and spiritual issues, crisis intervention and end-of-life care, and facilitating appropriate discharge planning and disposition.
- Education
- Masters in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited school of social work.
- Experience
- Hospital experience required
- Knowledge of psycho-social implications of illness and disease on individual and family systems.
- Licensure and/or Certification
- LCSW preferred
- Skills
- Knowledge of Medical terminology.
- Ability to work in a team framework.
- Critical thinking skills.
- Organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate in English.
