A well-established, highly profitable regional CPA firm is seeking an Audit Director who specializes in government and non-profit clients. As Director you will liaise between Partners, clients, and professional staff. You will manage multiple auditing and accounting projects and client engagements simultaneously, as well as scheduling, staffing and coordinating engagement workflow. You will develop and train staff and help develop new business for the firm.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain contact with clients throughout the year and build good client relationships.
- Assume the role of engagement partner or report directly to the engagement partner on engagements.
- Sign attest opinions as a representative of the firm when assigned the role of engagement partner.
- Oversee all phases of an audit, review or accounting engagement when reporting to an engagement partner; ensure client deliverables comply with the applicable accounting framework and firm policy.
- Apprise the engagement Partner, if applicable, of all important developments on the client account; identify potential issues and implement solutions after partner consultation.
- Ensure engagements are properly scheduled.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for government and not-for-profit clients.
- Ensure that billing and collection practices are executed.
- Supervise assigned staff and provide on-the-job training; review work papers and reports.
- Play a pivotal role in staff recruitment, interviews, performance evaluations, reviews and counseling.
- Develop a network of business contacts and referrals to generate business for the firm.
- Maintain appropriate compliance with all firm policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- 10 years in public accounting, at least 2 years in a senior manager position, with significant experience auditing not-for profit and government sector clients.
- Current and valid CPA’s license with Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
- Able to travel to assigned client locations.
- Demonstrated ability to bring in new business to a CPA Firm.
- Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in the United States, Standards issued by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board, United States Generally Accepted Auditing Standards, and Government Auditing Standards issued by the Comptroller of the United States.
- Able to direct, review and train departmental staff.
Compensation commensurate with experience, base $190-230K. Salary : $190,000 - $230,000
