Medical Billing / Front Office Assistant

Emery Eye Center is currently looking for Full/Part-time team members to work closely with the doctor and team to facilitate optimum patient care, and nurture a great team culture.
We are a one location, privately owned, full service eye care facility that concentrates on the patients visual well being.
Pay is commensurate with skill and experience
Experience in medical and vision plan billing and electronic medical records required.
Key responsibilities:
- Patient intake
- Provide insurance plan and benefit counseling to patients
- Insurance authorizations
- Timely, accurate insurance verification of proper coding and fees
- Submission of insurance plans for reimbursement
- Track and respond to incoming remittances
- Accounts Receivables (insurance and patient)
- Ensure financial and insurance information and reporting is up-to-date
- Credentialing
Additional responsibilities:
- Patient scheduling and retention
- Statistical tracking
- Collaborate with team to support clinic and optical as needed (training provided)
- Perform other duties as assigned
The requirements of the position are as follows:
- Qualified applicants should possess experience in accounting or related field; eyecare medical terminology, billing and coding certification or equivalent experience; keen accounts receivable/insurance knowledge; statistical knowledge
- Positive, can-do attitude, with ability to work efficiently and relate well with others
- Attention to detail is paramount
- Attendance, dependability and accountability
- Great written/verbal communication and math skills
- Proficiency in using computer and basic office equipment, including Office365, and ability to learn new EMR systems, instruments and technology
- Reliable transportation
- One to two nights per week are required
