The Planner is responsible for developing and coordinating production workflow, for multiple projects, in accordance with customer requirements. The Planner collaborates with multiple departments to create job orders, requisition materials, and coordinate the required documentation for release to production. This role also monitors job progression, assists with production scheduling, and other tasks required to maintain smooth operations and achieve production goals.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- Review customer requirements including material and processing specifications, and all other applicable information
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, CAD designs, specifications, and all other applicable flowed down documents.
- Create and maintain accurate job orders for manufactured parts and assemblies.
- Communicates and coordinates across multiple groups in the organization to support on time delivery.
- Monitor and expedite incoming materials and material shortage/replenishment as needed.
- Creates, monitors, and maintains jobs within schedule and budget.
- Executes flow of non-conforming material from the shop floor, and coordinate/communicate with applicable departments per company’s processes, procedures, and Quality System.
- Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), as required.
- Comply with company policies and procedures, as well as AS9100 and ISO standards.
- Participate in continuous improvement activities and lean manufacturing initiatives as needed and assigned.
- Represent the mission, values and culture of the company on the day-to-day actions.
- Perform additional assignments and/or duties as assigned by manager.
Education/Experience:
Required:
- 5 years’ experience in an aerospace metal contract manufacturing environment (preferably for US Government Prime contractors).
- Proficiency in ERP systems, production planning software, and data analysis tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred:
- 2-year Associates’ degree plus relevant work experience.
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Excellent organizational skills to develop and manage complex production schedules.
- Effective communication to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to identify and resolve production issues efficiently.
- Strong ability to analyze production data, identify trends, and make informed decisions.
- Must be able to adapt to various working conditions.
Preferred:
- Experience with AS9100 and ISO 9001 are desirable.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Working knowledge of metal machining, welding, metal-finishing, fabrication, and general assembly experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit or stand up to 8 hours per day.
