What are the responsibilities and job description for the Referral Coordinator position at - EMH?
JOB SUMMARY:
The Referral Clerk performs office responsibilities relating to the making of healthcare referrals. Contributes to the effective operations of the Organization by demonstrating dependability in job performance. Must exhibit the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).
WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Works in a well lighted, ventilated and air conditioned area. Sometimes exposed to unpleasant odors, sights and sounds. Long periods in a stationary position and moving around the unit are required. There are risks of exposure to disease, infection, physical strain, and assault. There are risks of exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue, and radiation. Must be able to move or positon 25 lbs. independently. A flexible work schedule is required.
CONTACTS WITH OTHERS:
Patients, family members and significant others, physicians and Associates, other health care providers, community personnel, administrative staff and Medical Center support services.
EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
Copy machine, fax, PC, medical terminology and communication skills.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR EQUIVALENTS:
Education: High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience: Experience in dealing with the public. One year previous healthcare experience required. One year experience in physicians office preferred. ICD-9 coding experience preferred.
