TimberBLDR is an employee-owned mass timber construction company. We build unique, visually appealing, and sustainable projects. We are looking for a Field Project Manager to estimate and oversee the construction of our mass timber projects. Must be willing to travel.

Position Summary :

As a Field Project Manager at TimberBLDR, you will be a driving force behind mass timber construction, blending technical expertise, business strategy, and hands-on leadership to ensure projects are executed with precision, innovation, and profitability. This role goes beyond traditional project management-you will lead the entire lifecycle, from early design coordination and proposal development to on-site execution and financial oversight, while partnering with architects, general contractors, and ownership teams to optimize designs and secure contracts. With an entrepreneurial mindset and a focus on strategic impact, you will have the autonomy to drive profitable growth, shape project strategies, and reinforce TimberBLDR's reputation as a leader in sustainable, prefabricated construction.

Job Responsibilities :

  • Project Setup and Planning : Review and execute contracts, ensuring compliance with all terms. Conduct job cost spread and estimate reviews. Develop and maintain project sequencing and scheduling. Work closely with architects, engineers, and ownership teams in early design phases to optimize constructability, reduce costs, and ensure TimberBLDR's expertise is leveraged in the project approach.
  • Financial Management : Oversee project buy-out process. Manage material and equipment procurement. Approve material and equipment invoices. Conduct weekly cost report job forecasting. Maintain overall project fiscal responsibility. Develop financial strategies not just at the project level, but also at a division level, identifying areas for improved profitability and cost-efficient procurement strategies.
  • Operations Management : Track daily progress. Approve manpower timesheets. Coordinate with VP of Operations to secure adequate manpower.
  • Communication and Coordination : Maintain and update schedules. Coordinate and communicate with General Contractor / Owner. Manage extra work and change order distribution / tracking. Issue and track change order requests. Develop basic change order estimate pricing.
  • Preconstruction & Proposals : Lead the proposal and bidding process, including pricing strategies, scope alignment, and project feasibility reviews. Assist in positioning TimberBLDR's services to developers and owners as a preferred partner in mass timber construction.
  • Safety & Compliance : Ensure compliance with TimberBLDR's safety and risk management policies. Prioritize adherence to building codes, safety practices, and project standards.
  • Client & Partner Relations : Develop and maintain relationships with developers, architects, and ownership teams to promote mass timber solutions and secure future opportunities. Work proactively with general contractors to ensure TimberBLDR is positioned as a trusted partner rather than just a subcontractor.
  • Business Operations : Manage the project's P&L, overhead, and operational activities. Assist in developing proposals and budgets for potential projects, ensuring TimberBLDR's value is fully captured.
  • Strategic Planning & Business Development : Assist in long-term business strategy, including identifying new markets and expanding TimberBLDR's influence in the mass timber industry. Contribute insights on market trends, new construction technologies, and TimberBLDR's competitive positioning.
  • Additional Duties : Perform other tasks as assigned to support the division and company objectives.

Job Requirements :

  • Minimum of 5 years in a Construction Project Management role within the construction industry, with substantial experience in mass timber or related trades such as steel erection, precast concrete, modular construction, or heavy timber.
  • Proven track record in leading complex projects from inception to completion.
  • Proven experience in project setup, budget planning, buy-out, and cost reporting.
  • Experience leading successful project teams, including employee development and maintaining relationships with external entities.
  • Deep understanding of all phases of construction, particularly in trades that emphasize prefabrication and precision assembly, such as mass timber, steel erection, precast concrete, and modular construction.
  • Good understanding of critical path scheduling.
  • Expertise in design assist processes, with a strong ability to collaborate with architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop innovative, sustainable, and constructible solutions.
  • Highly entrepreneurial and self-motivated, able to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Must demonstrate strong leadership, mentorship, and team-building skills, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and excellence.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively represent the company in high-stakes negotiations, client meetings, and industry events.
  • Strong strategic planning skills with the ability to develop and implement operational plans that align with the company's long-term goals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to quickly assess complex situations, identify potential risks, and implement effective solutions.
  • Expertise in managing budgets, forecasting financial performance, and driving profitability.
  • Experience in leading teams through emergencies or unforeseen events, ensuring continuity of operations and the safety of all personnel.
  • Ongoing commitment to professional development and staying current with industry advancements and best practices.
  • Recommended / Preferred :
