Forklift Operator/Shipping Clerk
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Shipping and Receiving Clerk to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the flow of goods in and out of our warehouse. You will ensure that all shipments are processed accurately and efficiently, maintaining high standards of inventory management. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to safety.
Duties
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Prepare outgoing shipments by packing items securely and ensuring proper labeling.
- Utilize various equipment such as forklifts, cherry pickers, and clamp trucks for loading and unloading materials.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using RF scanners and other tracking systems.
- Organize the warehouse layout to optimize space and efficiency.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely processing of orders.
- Conduct regular inventory counts and assist in reconciling discrepancies.
- Follow safety protocols while operating heavy equipment and handling materials.
Requirements
- Previous experience in shipping and receiving or warehouse operations is preferred.
- Proficiency in operating forklifts, cherry pickers, and clamp trucks.
- Familiarity with materials handling processes and heavy equipment operation.
- Ability to use RF scanners for inventory management.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to lift heavy items (up to 50 pounds) and perform physical tasks as required.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- A valid forklift operator certification is a plus but not mandatory.
